To be honest, I haven't see nthat shield anywhere o.o;;;
Maybe the npc is in some secluded spot in the desert or something, but I haven't found him.
Anyways, thanks for correcting me on the Stormbow thing.

The AR12 +45/-2 Enchanted Shield is between druids overlook and the wilds. I think the Manmoon Jungle. The item he trades for is Ancient Eyes.

Going back to the original post:
Yes, there is a trend for people to buy gold items. So what?
It's like buying a pair of jeans from Walmart/Marks & Spencer, or buying a pair of jeans from Harrods/Gucci etc.
Both are jeans, both have the same practical use, one has an associated "name" to it, while the other doesn't.
Same thing with gold/collectors weapons, or collectors/15k armour. Both have the same practical use, even the same stats, but one has a "name" (if you will).
Obviously, your adventurer on a budget, who just wants a practical and decent weapon will opt for the collectors bow, while a richer player looking for the nicer graphic, or the gold text will not be too concerned about splashing out the money.
I don't see a problem in this. The rich, if they have earned their money, and not just bought off Ebay are welcome to the rarer stuff. The poorer, or shrewder can stick with their weapons of choice too. What there should NOT be is any amount of jealousy between the two. If a rich player wants to pay high prices for something, it's up to them, and poorer players bemoaning the prices, or accusing the owners of gold items is pathetic. Likewise, rich people displaying any element of snobbery over a player who prefers to go cheap is also pathetic. You can play how you want, and buy whatever items you want. At the end of the day, it's not real money you're using, and not real items you're buying. Bear that in mind, and you have a better perspective on things.

The 'AR16 +45/-2 while hexed' shield is give by Karl Jackobs (or something like that) on the bottom right of Vulture drifts by the entrance to the Arid sea.
I think he wants 5 jawbones for it which can be had, if I'm not mistaken, by killing sand giants. There are plenty of them close by.

Maybe it's contradicting my beliefs, but I must agree with you on this one.
Also another thing I've experienced is people getting scolded and insulted because they SELL an item that's "perfect" or "near perfect". I'm ussually the one saying to leave them do their business, but ofcourse that never seems to have any effect what so ever.
Maybe it's not really related to the primairy post, but it's a subject that's close to this.

Well there is, you can get the Longbow 15>50 in Mineral Springs. Don't remember what the collector wants though.

Collector items rock so much. I can spend like 10 seconds getting someone to give me Azure Remains dirt cheap, and turn around and cash them in for a sweet item, that I can put mods on. Gold items mean nothing to me anymore, considering they are so popular now.

Some colector items have great stats and are cheap but they are UGLY and don't give the owner any pride. By the way, have you ever tried to upgrade you're colectors ascalon bow 15>50 with good upgrades?

I use nothing but collector weapons and clean weapons...I like to put my own upgrades to them to personalize it more for what I need.

collecting items are sometimes better. i dont know why people would offer 50k for a gold sword or something and then 1k for the exact same weapon just a collectors item

I'm often amused by some of the WTB ads I see in different places.
I've got a soft spot for "WTB GOOD WEAPON!!!"
Really? Are you sure I cant interest you in this crap weapon I've got taking up space in my storage? God forbid they take a second to do some homework and think about what they want beyond somthing, "good".

My toons run pretty much exclusively on collector items. Sure I stick some mods on them, but I'm perfectly satisfied with the stats on them. I certainly am not about to pay 50k+ for some "godly" weapon that might do 2 or 3 more dps.

Lame Gold Items
Last week I was in a PUG when a "gold" cesta dropped for me. I picked it up and thought..."sweet, a gold item"...until I identified it....it had NOTHING on it. No mods at all, no prefix no suffix nothing....
Since then, I dont care what color the text of my items are....it's not like it does anything...

Same here. My ranger's currently carrying 3 different bows and they all look exactly the same because I just go for the 15>50% Ascalon collector bows. So much easier than trying to go through all the people selling their "Godly" weapons in LA.

just to clarify things , there are many people who know that gold items can contain MORE and BETTER mods. you will never get anything above a 10/7 sundering on a purple or blue item. (same falls in line with all mods, like enchanting wont go above 14% on purple or blue, etc).
the reason you see people spamming for nondescript gold items, such as the fav' spam " WTB GOLD ITEMS AT STORAGE " is because they hope for someone not so knowledgable about weapon mods prices to come and sell them a "sundering short sword of enchanting" or something along those lines with perfect mods or something close to perfect for like 10k or so. Salvage any of those mods off, either the sundering 10/10 or the 20% enchanting pommel and wow. you have just made like a 90k profit. That's what most people do at least... some others are merely hoping to buy a good gold item. That's why people are instantly turned off when you say it's only a purple or a blue.

ok, the part about peoples trading practices is right.. the part about purple/blue weapons is wrong..
I have gotten perfect stats/upgrades off of purples before.. it is much more rare but possible.. did you know you can even find minor runes from plain white armors? its extremely rare and not even worth the cost of the id kit at all but still possible.. if you don't believe me, I dont care :-P
